The Jumpstart Toolkit for Newcomer ELs:
The Jumpstart Kit for Newcomer English learners (ELs) was developed by teachers for teachers in classrooms, K-12. Non-English speakers often feel isolated from others and academic content due to the language barrier. Accelerating Language, LLC. has developed resources and specific strategies for accelerating the English language among newcomer ELs and made them available in an easy-to-use toolkit. The Jumpstart Toolkit focuses on oral language development and is a toolkit to be used by English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers with their non-English speaking students to accelerate language development and move beyond word-level knowledge to sentence-level constructs that set them up for success in their content-area classes.
Supplemental Online Resources:
Supplemental online resources are included with all purchases of the Toolkit. Included with the online resources are quick-start videos for effectively implementing the Toolkit, a scope and sequence, articles, resource documents, and supplemental activities for students.

If you teach small groups of more than eight students or full classrooms of students, we would be happy to customize a Toolkit with as many student materials as you need. Just let us know the student number when ordering.

The Jumpstart Toolkit for Building Complex Sentences
The Jumpstart Toolkit for Building Complex Sentences:
Just like our first Toolkit, “The Jumpstart Toolkit for Building Complex Sentences” is an all-inclusive, easy to implement tool for teachers, designed by teachers with real world experience in the classroom! It is specifically designed to provide comprehensive exposure to and practice with the most common conjunctions used in forming complex sentences. “The Jumpstart Toolkit for Building Complex Sentences” utilizes oral language, making it accessible to a wide range of learners, including budding readers.
How does it work? Through repeated exposure to complex sentences, using familiar topics and vocabulary, students gain familiarity with, and mastery of the common conjunctions used in forming complex sentences. Because the activities are all done in the oral realm, even young learners can participate. Teachers orally model sentences and then students repeat them. Through repeated oral repetition and a gradual release model, students quickly learn the function of each conjunction and create their own complex sentences using picture prompts.

The physical toolkit comes with teacher resources for modeling sentence building strategies and student materials for instructional groups of 15 learners. Each physical Toolkit comes with digital copies of the 5 Conjunction Flipcharts. The student materials include two separate sentence formation templates, sentence manipulatives, and two reference sheets (“Popping Kernel Sentences with Conjunctions” and “How to Pop Simple Kernel Sentences”). In addition, each physical Toolkit comes with a “Pop That Sentence” classroom poster and two copies of the “Interrogatives Picture Placemats.”
