Background:

The Jumpstart Kit for Newcomer English learners (ELs) was developed by teachers for teachers in classrooms, K-12. Non-English speakers often feel isolated from others and academic content due to the language barrier. Accelerating Language, LLC. has developed resources and specific strategies for accelerating the English language among newcomer ELs and made them available in an easy-to-use toolkit. The Jumpstart Kit focuses on oral language development and is a toolkit to be used by English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers with their non-English speaking students to accelerate language development and move beyond word-level knowledge to sentence-level constructs that sets them up for success in their content-area classes.

Supplemental Online Resources:

Supplemental online resources are included with the toolkit. The online resources provide additional support for teachers implementing the toolkit, as well as activities for students.
